If you are bored and want to update your closet, but don’t want to look silly or like you are trying too hard, think about some of these tips:
Find a new denim piece.
If you love casual wear, and even own a lot of denim, try it in a new form.
- How about a denim tunic?
- Or a jumpsuit?
- How about using a dress as a coat?
Look for any button down dress in denim and wear it unbuttoned over your favorite outfit to spice it up. That’s what Grettel at our Style Revival event learned when she wanted answers to her questions about her dress and how to wear it. Besides belting it, we suggested she wear it open as a coat over a cute top and shorts.
Incorporate a floral
Even if you don’t love prints, now may be a good time to find a floral, because they are plentiful for spring and summer. I found this fabric online Croft Mill, and I am having a dress made using an easy pattern.
Be comfortable in 2 updated styles:
This is a 2fer. One great pant that is finally back in style (heralding the 70s) is a boot cut pant with a more flared leg. They are already available and are flattering to most body types.
Second is the kimono. This design allows for comfort and a fitted waistline because you can tie or belt the waist. Because they come in so many colors and prints, now is the time to look for them in your personal style.
